The notion of assignment is the act of making an assignment request (adding, modifying, deleting) for a role. It is possible to have several assignments for the same role.

The assignment validation workflow is defined, like explained in the Role Request Mechanism section, on role publication regarding the request and beneficiary's information.
This notion of assignment makes it easy to manage changes to a request without unassigning / reassigning a role.
